PS3 v2.35 update bringing full screen Flash videos

Unlike Microsoft’s monumental NXE update, Sony likes to provide far less exciting, incremental firmware upgrades to its console. Most of the time they are only there to rename the odd setting, or add a pause button that only nine members of the PS3 owning public will ever actually notice. This time there’s something worth a mention though: support for full-screen Adobe Flash content.

Sharing videos with YouTube just got a lot more snazzy. The world’s largest video sharing site just updated to allow widescreen clips, and is experimenting with HD too.

Sony has now released the latest PS3 Firmware update, version 2.50. As usual, there are a number of minor tweaks and upgrades on offer, but the highlight this time is the addition of Flash 9 support for the PS3 web browser and the option to take screenshots in-game.

This might be the most expensive way to watch YouTube on your TV, and it’s only available in the US, but we’re still jealous. Sony just updated its Internet Video Link add-on, letting Bravia owners grab streaming video from the biggest site on the ‘net.
