Microsoft revealed that Windows Phone 7 Mango has made its way to manufacturers earlier this week, now the world’s first phone running the update has been extensively detailed on video. The clip offers the best look at Windows Phone 7 Mango so far including deeper Twitter integration and music streaming from SkyDrive (potentially giving Windows Phone devices an iCloud alternative).

We’re hoping that the Windows Phone 7 Mango devices we get in the West will be as great to look at as the IS12T. It’ll arrive in Japan in September with a 13.2MP camera, 32GB of memory, DLNA support, Xbox Live connectivity and a choice of three colours (yellow, black and pink). We’re pinning out hopes on the Nokia Windows Phone 7 partnership and those rumours of a Samsung Galaxy S2 with Windows Phone 7 onboard.

Good news! Windows Phone 7 Mango, the first major update for Microsoft’s smartphone OS, has reached a major milestone. The company has announced on the Windows Phone Blog that the Mango has hit the Release To Manufacturing (RTM) stage which means it’s now in the hands of carriers and phone makers including Nokia, HTC, LG, Samsung, Dell, ZTE and Fujitsu.

The move means Windows Phone 7 Mango, which Microsoft previewed back in May, is still on course to arrive in the autumn. The Fujitsu IS12T has also been confirmed as the first phone in the world arriving with Windows Phone 7 Mango. It’ll get a Japanese launch in September. While we’re unlikely to get our hands on that phone, expect to see lots of details on new Windows Phone 7 Mango devices leaking over the next few weeks.

Check out our Windows Phone 7 Mango preview for a rundown of all the new features.

The Nokia Sea Ray Windows Phone 7 device made its unofficial on video when Stephen Elop waved it around with suspicious carelessness at a supposedly super-secret briefing that just happened to make it onto YouTube.

Now we’ve got another look at what appears to be the first Nokia Windows Phone 7 handset. This time it’s found lazing around on the floor of a factory in the Far East. Read on for details and to take a look at the device being prodded and poked…

Last time we heard from Microsoft, the Windows Phone 7 Mango update was due to arrive in the autumn. But it seems the first Windows Phone 7 Mango handset could drop earlier, at least for folk in Japan. According to Nikkei, Fujitsu will launch the first phone packing Windows Phone 7 Mango next month.

The Fujitsu Windows Phone 7 Mango device is a waterproof model called the IS12T. It’ll be sold for between 30,000 and 40,000 yen (£235 to £313) which is pretty pricey.

Click through to see a bright pink version of the handset on show beside other future Windows Phone 7 models in a video from Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference last week. Still, since it’s unlikely to reach the UK, that Samsung Galaxy S2 with Windows Phone 7 is still topping our wishlist…

Long before Windows Phone 7 Mango bore fruit, Windows Mobile 6.5 phones like the HTC HD2 were left behind. But backslashsid, a member of the XDA-Developers forum, thought that was unfair and has managed to port the Windows Phone 7 Mango Beta 1 to the device.

Keeping up its recent more lenient attitude to hardware hackers, Microsoft spokesman Bill Cox told AllThingsD: “We say tinker away with Mango and enjoy the juice. But beware the fine print – unlocking phones may void your warranty.”

Nokia N9 eyes Android following Windows Phone 7 demoYesterday when Stephen Elop showed off what looked to be a Nokia N9 running Windows Phone 7 Mango we had our doubts over the authenticity of the video. Today that same device, codenamed “Sea Ray”, is running Android Gingerbread. Is it just me or is the N9 going through a bit of an identity crisis?

First spotted by Vlad Savov from Engadget, the Android-powered N9 “Sea Ray” was confirmed by the same Chinese source who leaked images of Nokia’s first Windows Phone handset in May. As we now know, those images correspond to the N9 “Sea Ray”, leading us to believe today’s leak is also in fact true.
