We’ve heard loads about Microsoft’s next-gen operating system, Windows 7. It’s understood to support multi-touch Surface touchscreens, voice control, ultra-deep integration with Windows Live and come with fewer add-on apps to make it faster than ever.

All that’s missing now is a name, and Microsoft just confirmed that it’ll be called…

Microsoft’s beavering away on the next generation of Windows, and rather than piling in new features and applications, it’s actually stripping out lots of programs to make the operating system smaller and faster.

So, Vista - that didn’t pan out ever so well, did it? Still, Microsoft is not getting disheartened at the less than rapturous response to its last OS and is ploughing on with plans for the next version of Windows, of which it’s promised we’ll find out more soon.
