Xbox VP David Gosen has stoked the flames in the console war by saying 60% of Wii Fit users won’t play twice, implying such “gimmicky” technology could “end up in the cupboard under the stairs.” Harsh.
It seems the Nintendo Wii’s appetite for destruction has resurfaced. But this time it’s Wii Fit causing the collateral damage, rather than wayward controllers.
According to a poll, a fifth of women admit to getting carried away with Ninty’s exercise tool, smashing all sorts of household objects while on their quest for wellbeing.
Fatties rejoice! Nintendo is bringing its flab-burning Wii Fit peripheral to shopping centres and universities up and down the land, giving all and sundry a chance to give the balance board bolt-on a try. The tour kicks off this week in Bristol, and among other places will be hitting up London’s Grand Designs Show in June, plus Newcastle, Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham, Milton Keynes and Southampton. Wii Fit itself is out next Friday, 25th April, but unless you’ve pre-ordered it the tour might be your only chance of having a go for a while: it’s sold out before it’s even gone on sale!
