O2 has revealed on Twitter that it will be getting a white version of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play on exclusive. We say so ourselves, but the Xperia Play has been quite the ugly duckling. There’s been a startling transformation from early Frankenstein’s monster leaks of the device, where it looked more like a home mod than a prototype, and now we have this beautiful white swan of a device. Vodafone also revealed to us this morning that it will be getting the white version of the Google Nexus S on exclusive. There’s no dates for when Vodafone will be stocking the Google Nexus S, or any pricing details available yet, but the Google Nexus S will be coming to Vodafone in the UK, and it will be with the white version on exclusive.

If you’re after getting your hands on a white BlackBerry Torch 9800, a quick heads up: Vodafone has opened pre-orders this morning on its website. The phone is still listed in the coming soon section, but pre-orders are opening today and it’s listed in the shop too. The white BlackBerry Torch is expected to ship on 10 Feb. The white iPhone 4 delay wasn’t about the colour of the device, according to Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak who doesn’t work day-to-day at the firm but obviously has his sources. He says the white iPhone 4 had a faulty proximity sensor and that the iPhone 4 camera flash bulb on the device leaked too much light. Woz made his own white iPhone with a DIY kit but now says a white iPhone is due to ship soon. We suspect we’ll have to wait until iPhone 5.

The LG Optimus 2X, the first dual core smartphone to make it to market, will be arriving in white as well. The news comes from LG marketing boss Ken Hong, who said on Flickr: “World’s first dual-core smartphone – LG Optimus 2X – now available in Korea, white version coming in Feb.” This could be good news for the patient among you, who still have eyes for the elusive white iPhone 4. The LG Optimus 2X is due to hit UK shores in February.
