If you’re a Virgin TiVo customer you’ll now be able to get your digital mitts on the third Virgin TiVo tuner. The new tuner activation means Virgin TiVo customers can record two programmes, and watch a third, all at the same time, giving some multitasking smarts to your TiVo box that other set top boxes can only dream of.

At the maximum TV capture you can push the TiVo box to record three live programmes at the same time, whilst watching something stored on your Virgin TiVo box hard drive.

Virgin Media is bumping up its top broadband speeds from 20Mbps to 30Mbps. The new 30Mbps will replace the existing 20Mbps with a new service called XL, starting from today. The extra speeds will be available for a one off fee of £30, which pays for activation, and a new router that’s bombastically titled the Virgin Media Super Hub.

Virgin won’t be selling you 30Mbps unless you’re in an area that can handle it though: if you’re with Virgin, you should get within a 10% advertised range of the speed you’ve been sold.

Virgin has unleashed news of its plan to demolish crappy broadband speeds in the UK and replace them with 100Mb speeds. The Virgin broadband roadmap is going to push out superfast broadband to 12.7 million homes that fall under the Virgin Media cable network.
