After a leak from Viewsonic earlier today that Android 2.4 will be arriving in April, and will still be called Android Gingerbread, Viewsonic has also revealed that it will be showing off an Android 2.4 device next week at Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona. Viewsonic will be launching a mystery device that runs Android 2.4, the update to Android 2.3, which adds support for dual core apps from Android Honeycomb.

Choosing the best TV of CES 2011 shortlist is no easy task: you couldn’t move in the Las Vegas Convention Center last week without walking into a 3D display, or an Android tablet. Great Boxee news! A free Boxee iPad app will arrive in Q2 of this year. It’ll bring access to your home network context with real-time conversion to iOS-friendly formats and will grab video from your Twitter and Facebook feeds. There’ll also be a selection of featured video content and you’ll be able to grab clips and shows from the Boxee software on the Boxee Box or a PC/Mac to watch later. Boxee also outed a partnership with Viewsonic. The Viewsonic Boxee TV will come packing the same Intel Atom CE4100 processor as the Boxee Box. It’ll be 46in but there’s no news on pricing or availability next.

UPDATE: Unsurprisingly, ViewSonic has been overwhelmed with interest. If you’re not getting any response from their website, keep checking and make sure you scope out retailers’ websites too, since they’ll have details too. The trade-in offer is valid for 30 days from a ViewPad purchase too, so no rush.
Considering an Android tablet but put off by the price tag weilded by the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Tab? Your luck’s in. ViewSonic just unveiled a terrific trade-in deal to shave £100 off the price of their new ViewPad tablets. Swap any old laptop or netbook and you’ll save a ton, literally.
Multi-touch monitors? We all know Steve Jobs’ opinion on them: “touch surfaces don’t want to be vertical,” he said when previewing OS X Lion earlier this week. “It doesn’t work, it’s ergonomically terrible. Touch surfaces want to be horizontal.” Well, screw you, Jobs! Viewsonic has gone and created a doozy of a multi-touch monitor anyway!
