Gameloft have released Guitar Rock Tour for the Apple iPhone (and other mobiles) – a music game that’ll be very familiar to fans of Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Gameloft describe it as an “alternative to Activision’s Guitar Hero”, but you could just as well call it a fairly straight rip.

In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Epic Games (creators of the Gears Of War and Unreal series) President Dr Michael Capps has spoken about the burgeoning battle between the games industry and games rental and resale services. Capps suggests one possibility to make sure games companies got money from renters that is being mooted is: “If you want to fight the final boss you go online and pay $20, but if you bought the retail version you got it for free.”

Users who have put hours and days of work into creating LittleBigPlanet levels have reacted with fury to their “moderation” (read: deletion) by server administrators. Sony/ Media Molecule are apparently deleting user-created levels for their game not just on the basis of rude pictures or sticking a willy on their main character, but also for copyright infringement.

Call Of Duty: World At War is getting fire from all sides currently. The game’s current Internet trailer has been called “tasteless” for superimposing heavy rock and “rear-window sticker” phrases over visceral and shocking images of WWII action. And to top that off, Infinity Ward, makers of the last Call Of Duty game, Modern Warfare, have hit back at Treyarch, developers of World At War, and Activision, for constantly comparing the two games.

Gill and Ken Murdoch, aged 54 and 66 from Scotland: “did not even know what ‘peer to peer’ was”. That didn’t stop lawyers acting on behalf of Atari of accusing them of illegally sharing the game Race 07: Official WTTC Game and threatening the Murdochs with court unless they paid £500 in compensation.
