Apple will deliver the iPhone 5 with support for both CDMA and GSM networks according to a new report which revives rumours of a world phone in the works. Techcrunch claims to have got hold of app logs which show an unidentified device running iOS 5 and sporting the network codes for both Verizon and AT&T.
Building a global iPhone 5 would be big news for US Apple fans who currently have to choose between AT&T and struggling when travelling abroad with the Verizon iPhone. A dual-mode iPhone 5 would allow the device to roam between networks effortlessly and allow Apple to stop producing two slightly different models. Verizon’s CFO seemed to reveal that an iPhone 5 world phone was on the way back in April but hopefully we’ll find out for sure at a September iPhone launch.
