It’s unquestionably this year’s most highly anticipated PS3 game, but Uncharted 2: Among Thieves also looks likely to become the highest rated title in the console’s history. Since reviews started popping up online last night, the third-person action-adventure romp has managed to garner more perfect scores than any other game on Metacritic, notching up a current metascore of 97 percent. Sony PS3 fans in the US are to get an “electrifying” announcement regarding upcoming games inFamous and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves later today.
But the cat may be out of the bag already – a photo of dummy inFamous boxes, taken by an American Best Buy employee, shows a sticker saying that buyers of inFamous will get a “multiplayer beta voucher” for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
How are Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and inFamous related? A teaser trailer on Sony PS3′s US homepage promises an “electrifying announcement” about both Sony PS3-exclusive games on Monday, 27 April. Internet predictions range from a demo for Uncharted 2 coming with electric-superhero freeroamer inFamous when it releases at the end of May, to each game featuring unlockable characters from the other.
Sony’s PS3 showing at E3, the world’s largest videogame trade show, taking place in Los Angeles in early June, will include the next installments in the MotorStorm, Jak & Daxter and Uncharted series. As well as the massively-anticipated, grown-up adventure game Heavy Rain (by the makers of Fahrenheit) and, presumably a load more.
The list of games was revealed as Sony announced a pre-E3 press event for US media.
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was one of the most fun PS3 games of 2007 and featured some fairly decent enemy AI alongside the lush production values. Developer’s Naughty Dog have been spilling the beans on their plans for making the AI even more cunning for the sequel.
