Apple is facing a battle on at least two fronts with Microsoft taking its App Store challenge to the European Union as well as continuing to fight the battle in the US.
For its attempt to chip away at Apple’s claim on the term “App Store” in the EU, Microsoft has teamed up with HTC, Nokia and Sony Ericsson, who’ve joined it in submitting an application claiming Apple’s “App Store” and “Appstore” trademarks are invalid. Uh oh…

Apple has filed multiple requests to gain control of the ‘iPad’ trademark. The name is currently controlled by Fujitsu which uses it for a small device used in US retail stores.
