HP webOS cloud-based music service: an iCloud competitor is bornIt appears Apple and Google are not the only cool kids on the block touting a cloud-based music streaming solution. Reports have surfaced HP is building out its own Google Music and iCloud competitor for its webOS range of device, like the soon-to-be-released HP TouchPad.

HP’s webOS cloud service is not a one-trick pony, it will feature music, movies and TV show streaming. According to Billboard magazine, HP is in discussion with a number of record labels to bring their libraries to webOS devices.

HP TouchPad video extravaganza: see it in action before the July launchThis Sunday pre-orders for the HP TouchPad kick off in the UK with a July release to follow. While you sit back and fantasize about the latest build of webOS gracing a 9.7-inch display, HP has released a series of eight videos to hold you over.

The video series covers everything from multitasking to charging. When the TouchPad goes on sale next month, the 16GB model will be £399 and the 32GB £479. The combination of a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor and 512MB of RAM look to outclass both its iOS and Android competitors.
