We love De’Longhi’s hilariously over-designed breakfast gadgets, but the Argento toaster –the one that looks like a prop from a 50s sci-fi B-movie - is a fond favourite. It even has dual toasting controls for your co-pilot.

Slide, the see-through toaster
The DT08 Slide toaster takes the guesswork out of breakfast because you can watch your toast cook through its glass casing. When your bread reaches toasty perfection, just slide it out. It’s the best thing since the Apple/Braun Toaster.
Apple toaster spotted (by Braun)
If Apple made toasters, they’d probably look like this, but surprisingly, this design by Joe Doucet is for Braun of electric shaver fame.
The smooth plastic finish and backlit buttons are the hallmarks of a slick consumer electronics product, but they certainly look right at home in the world of kitchen appliances too. LG made a similar move with its awesome Steam Washing Machines that feature backlit ‘play’ and ‘pause’ buttons instead of a clunky on/off switch.
It’s the subtle tilt that catches your eye though and there’s a good reason for it. The heat from your charred toast is vented away from the bottom of wooden kitchen cabinets to reduce the risk of fire. Sadly it’s not OS X compatible.

Breakfast is black with Morphy Richards moody Latitude collection
If the steely Food Fusion gadgets by Morphy Richards don’t quite fit with your black mood in the morning, then perhaps the Latitude toaster and kettle will.
