Hitting the scales at less than a pound, the 7-inch ViewSonic ViewPad 7x will be one of the first bite-sized Android Honeycomb tablets to come to market. Despite its small stature, the ViewPad 7x is no slouch in the specs department, packing the same 1 GHz nVidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor as its much larger counterparts. It appears the Acer Iconia Tab A100 and HTC Flyer have a new competitor, game on.
That much rumoured Amazon Android tablet is back on the rumour mill but the latest word is that we can expect not one but two tablets. Boy Genius Reports claims a loose-lipped tipster at Amazon says we’ll see an entry-level Tegra 2 tablet codenamed “Coyote” and a quad-core beast with the codename “Hollywood”.
That more powerful device will apparently rock the Superman-referencing, NVIDIA T30 “Kal-El” processor. There’s no news on other specs yet so we’ll just have to imagine what Amazon might be cooking up. Kicking off the morning we’ve got news on the release date for the Motorola Droid X2, destined for a home on Verizon Wireless this month. We take a look at the record trade-in numbers being recorded by some UK game retailers and then close the show with Netflix for Android.
The once rumored Motorola Droid X2 has had its fair share of leaked images and product literature spread across the Internet. Today we have the official Verizon Wireless launch package, complete with the full specifications and most importantly the U.S. launch date — May 26. Get ready for a double dose of Droid X, pre-orders begin May 19.
Having a Tegra 2 Android device is nice, but being able to exploit that powerful dual-core chip can be problematic. Alas, Nvidia has delivered on its promise of Tegra Zone, an application and gaming curator of sorts which highlights content specifically designed for the Tegra 2.
Wowsa. Tegra 2 3D processors are due to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress according to a Nvidia leaked presentation. The first, a 1.2Ghz Tegra 2 3D processor, designed for 3D screens in launching in Q1 2011 but will not use the same approach as the one baked in to the Nintendo 3DS…
You want to play an online multiplayer game with your mates, but you don’t own the same consoles. So you can’t. Don’t you just hate that? Nvidia has the answer. Its Tegra 2 chip lets gamers play others on different console formats simultaneously with no slowdown at all. It has to be seen to be believed. We did just that.
