Google Maps is getting an update today, which includes new street view functions. The updates are subtle but mean that via your Android mobile, you can get a lot more in depth with the street view you’re exploring.

Google Street View has now been rolled out to cover the whole of the UK. Once restricted to the biggest cities, Google Street View can now be used to swoop – or snoop – in on any stretch of road in the country.
Google Street View is great for sightseeing, but with the Google car’s camera stuck to thoroughfares, it’s difficult to get up close to landmarks on the service. That’s all changed though, as the search giant’s just meshed in user contributed photos, so you can zoom straight from Street View to your own shots.
Using Google Street View to snoop around streets you know better than your own missus is a classic time–wasting tactic. But how about having a peek at somewhere a tad more famous than your own gaff? Like Coronation Street? ITV has had the Big G’s Street View motor down its most famous street, with plans to stick the results on Corrie’s official website.
