Android 15, iPhone love. Sega has just announced that its flagship sports title Virtua Tennis will be heading to Android, with a first preview next week at CES in Las Vegas. It’s been designed with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play’s controls in mind, and been optimized for phones with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, typically used by both Sony Ericsson and HTC.

Sony Ericsson might be on its way out as a joint venture. But that doesn’t mean the Japanese-Swedish tie-up doesn’t have some smart new kit round the corner. In fact, if rumours are to be believed, it has a new Ice Cream Sandwich-packing blower in the works. Dubbed the Xperia Arc HD, it promises to be one hell of a smartphone.
The news that Sony has paid £1 billion to buy out Ericsson from the two companies’ joint mobile phone venture did not come as a surprise. Rumours had been flying for weeks that a deal was in the offing. But the confirmation acts as an undoubted marker in Sony’s attempts to push itself harder against rival manufacturers, Apple in particular.
