Slingplayer – the iPhone client that lets you watch video streamed from a Slingbox set-top box – has had its 3G support removed, as we reported yesterday. US mobile carrier AT&T has admited what many have suspected – it asked Apple to remove the 3G function.
Slingplayer – Sling Media’s iPhone client app – has been a long time coming, but the TV viewer app has finally passed the App Store approvals process. Sadly, the app will be crippled when it hits the App Store tomorrow.
Remember last week’s revelations that the upcoming SlingPlayer for iPhone app would only work with newer Slingbox models like the Slingbox SOLO and Slingbox PRO? Well, Sling Media has decided to make it easier for owners of older models to upgrade by offering them a £25 discount.
Last week we heard that a SlingPlayer app for the iPhone was just around the corner, which is great news. But it seems there’s a cruel twist in the tail: the app will not work with older Slingboxes, only the Slingbox SOLO and Slingbox PRO-HD models.
Slingplayer – the accompanying app for watch-anywhere TV and video streaming gadget Slingbox – is sorely missing an iPhone version. Hopefully, that will soon change now that Sling has submitted the iPhone client to the mercy of Apple’s App Store approvals team.
