Remember last week’s revelations that the upcoming SlingPlayer for iPhone app would only work with newer Slingbox models like the Slingbox SOLO and Slingbox PRO? Well, Sling Media has decided to make it easier for owners of older models to upgrade by offering them a £25 discount.

Last week we heard that a SlingPlayer app for the iPhone was just around the corner, which is great news. But it seems there’s a cruel twist in the tail: the app will not work with older Slingboxes, only the Slingbox SOLO and Slingbox PRO-HD models.
Slingplayer – the accompanying app for watch-anywhere TV and video streaming gadget Slingbox – is sorely missing an iPhone version. Hopefully, that will soon change now that Sling has submitted the iPhone client to the mercy of Apple’s App Store approvals team.
It’s a bad day for TV chucker Sling Media: the company’s top brass have all deserted in just over a day, with a slate of execs handing in their resignation letters.
Sling Media has been showing off the long-awaited SlingPlayer for iPhone at CES allowing owners of all generation iPhones, as well as the iPod touch, tune into their Slingbox from the end of March.
Sling Media will make Slingboxes available to BlackBerry owners by the end of the month, and we already know it’s working on versions for iPhone and Android. But where next for everyone’s favourite TV streaming box?
