Apple iPad 2 event planned for March 2?According to AllThingsD, the world of tablets will weather a storm up next week. The iPad 2 will be announced on March 2nd in San Francisco. This is not the first time we’ve heard iPad 2 predictions, but apparently “several sources close to the situation” are in accord.

Apple’s WWDC date looks like it’s been set. A mysterious listing for a “corporate meeting” has been added for June 5 until June 9 at San Francisco’s Moscone West, the usual home for Apple’s annual Worldwide Developer’s Conference. The convention center shows the days blocked out for an unnamed meeting labeled “convention/tradeshow”.

WWDC usually takes place in June and the calendar for the second half of June shows Moscone is booked out for other events. Those dates do look right but the big questions: what will iPhone 5 look like? And will we see Mac OS X Lion in full at WWDC?

The San Francisco riots are stupid (“Hooray, our team just won! Let’s trash the joint…”) but they just got even stupider. Rioters are actually checking in on Foursquare in a bid to become mayor of the riot. People have obviously been hashtagging themselves silly with riot tweets on Twitter (#sfriot) but Foursquare is where all the hip idiots are boasting about their criminal damage.
