Since the new entry-level 11in MacBook Air killed off the MacBook last week, attention has now turned to the MacBook Pro. A duo of rumours suggests that Apple is working on slimmer, lighter version of its most powerful laptops with a plan to combine MacBook-Air-like sleekness with larger screens.

MacRumors started the chatter with a claim that Apple has a 15in “ultra-thin Mac notebook” in development that does away with a built-in optical drive. TUAW jumped in to support the rumour adding that sources have told it a slimmed down 17in model is also on the cards. The last time the MacBook Pro line had a major overhaul was in 2008 when Apple switched to the unibody design.

Obviously both reports are highly speculative but it does make sense for Apple to make the MacBook Pro lighter while maintaining the screen size and Steve Jobs did call the MacBook Air “the future of notebooks”. Click the headline and hop into the comments to let us know: do you think Apple should cross the MacBook Pro with the MacBook Air?

Another day, another rumour about when we can expect Mac OS X Lion and the much-touted new MacBook Air to be revealed. While Apple has confirmed that it will unleash the new OS this month, it has kept schtum about precisely when it’ll be uncaged. Last week saw several false Lion alarms and no sign of the new hardware.

Now new reports are claiming that we’ll see Mac OS X Lion and the new MacBook Air tomorrow. Once again the rumours are pegged on chatter that Apple Store employees will be prepping stores for the launch overnight. Apple has it quarterly earnings call later today which could make Wednesday an ideal time to release new products but we’d still say don’t hold your breath just yet.

While there are plenty of iPhone 5 rumours to chew on, The Wall Street Journal – frequently pegged as a conduit for Apple controlled leaks – has moved on to the iPhone 6 already. Nestled near the end of a story on iPhone 5 speculation, it says Apple has a major revamp in store for the 2012 model.

The report claims: “People briefed on Apple’s plans said the company is planning a major iPhone revamp then, with one person saying the company has been experimenting with features such as a new way of charging the phone.” Here’s why that could make sense…

Those happy-go-lucky jokers LulzSec seem to have called it a day on the hacking front, at least until the heat has died down a bit. Before they crawled back under whatever it was they crawled out from, however, the LulzSec crew may have left us all a little gift.

Among the last payload of hacked documents and vandalism LulzSec released before shutting down was a cache of stolen AT&T internal documents. These appear to have spec details of both the iPhone 5 and the iPad 3.

That box we know as the Apple TV is just the first step in Apple’s living room invasion. That’s the assumption that the “Apple is building a television set” is built on.

The idea comes up every few months with the promise that next time Steve Jobs takes to the stage, he really, really will unveil a TV with a glowing Apple logo set into the bezel.

The latest incarnation of the ‘true’ Apple television set rumour is a claim from DailyTech that a “former Apple executive” says we’ll get our hands on one this year. Here’s why it’s the worst kind of phooey…

The black MacBook Air rumour that began earlier this week may actually have some truth to it but don’t expect to pick up one too soon. An anonymous tipster claiming to be an Apple engineer told Mac Rumors that a black powder-coated MacBook Air was created but failed to make the grade.

The email claims Steve Jobs rejected the black MacBook air because the coating showed a tendency for soaking up body oils. Yep, we think that sounds fairly grim too. Head through to see what the alleged insider had to say about the issue:

The iPhone 5 could arrive in early August if the latest rumour to hit the web is right. Macotakara, which previously correctly predicted details of the iPad 2 ahead of launch, claims a loose-lipped source has told it that the iPhone 5 will arrive with an 8MP camera and that SIM-free design that goes even further than the smaller iPhone SIM we saw predicted a couple of weeks back…
