Keeping ‘mum’ on future products is a tricky business. These days it seems that for every one tight-lipped employee there are two slips of the tongue and one inside leak. Thing is, there’s legitimate slip-ups, then there’s misconstrued, arm-flailing gossip mongering. Microsoft’s just been the subject of the latter, and now it’s on damage control mission regarding the next Xbox. Read more

Apple’s buying Loewe. Or at least that’s what you’d be lead to believe if you even so much as blinked in Twitter’s general direction over the weekend. Apple is the frame to buy US online video service Hulu, according to a report from Bloomberg. The claim from two anonymous sources is that Apple is currently engaged in negotiations described as “early talks that may lead to an offer for Hulu”. Talk of a bidding war for the service has been hotting up since it started shopping around for buyers after deciding not to go public with a $2bn share offering.

The deal to buy Hulu includes five years of programming from the US networks and two years of exclusive rights to shows from Disney (where Steve Jobs is the largest single shareholder), News Corp and NBC Universal. With rumours of an iCloud video service in the works, Hulu could be a perfect fit for Apple which currently has $64bn in cash reserves.

There is a fairly big issue for us Brits though: the Hulu UK launch was scuppered by a deadlock in deal making with UK channels. Let’s hope if Apple does gobble up the site, it’ll also use its klout to bring it here too.

Though the suggestions should be treated with a significant pinch of salt, they once again raise the prospect of an iPhone 4S delivering a minor upgrade on the current model in September with the iPhone 5 not arriving until 2012. Read on for full details on this somewhat surprising new theory…

We’re at the stage in the iPhone 5 rumour cycle where the smallest of details are being debated. The latest focus for speculation if the iPhone 5 camera and whether it will arrive packing a dual-LED flash.

As is so often the case, the rumour is based on whispering among component makers in the Far East. While the iPhone 4 camera was a leap up from the iPhone 3GS, it’s still ripe for improvement and a dual flash for the iPhone 5 certainly definitely makes sense…
