Like most gamers, yesterday’s GTA 5 trailer release got me very excited about diving headlong into Rockstar’s amoral universe once again. But that excitement is tinged by a large amount of concern. Because the trailer hints, once again, at the gaming giant’s ever more visible social conscience. The serious approach is a risky strategy for Rockstar to take with GTA 5 and one which could seriously impinge on its success. This game will sell, of course, but the very future of the franchise depends on the mistakes of GTA IV being learned.

Grand Theft Auto 5. It’s coming. No release date, no platforms, just a short tease of what to expect: Rockstar was good to its word and released the trailer right on the dot at 4pm. As a source reported last week, Grand Theft Auto 5 does indeed return to the fictional Los Angeles of 2004 hit Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, with the Vinewood letters aping the Hollywood sign visible in the 90 second apéritif.

Rockstar has made Red Dead Redemption the game that just keeps giving. It’s confirmed that a new batch of free Red Dead Redemption DLC will mosey onto Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network in September.

The Myths and Mavericks bonus pack will feature fan-favourite multiplayer characters like Landon Ricketts (that’s the grizzled guy in the picture above) and add new multiplayer locations to Death Match, Grab The Bag and Gang matches as well as other online modes. Our original Red Dead Redemption multiplayer review pondered whether the game was just too big and still it’s getting bigger!
