BlackBerry apps will soon be getting push notification: RIM’s just announced that developers will be able to add realtime alerts to any BlackBerry app, so you’ll get everything you need to know delivered to you instantly, just like iPhone OS 3.0.
Apple’s late on this one. Really late. We first heard about its plans for push notification last year. It’s the neat system that’ll let you receive alerts from apps without them being open all the time, preserving the iPhone’s battery life but giving nearly all the benefits of multi-tasking. And now it’s here, in the iPhone OS 3.0.
