The Sony NGP could face a serious delay and fail to hit its global launch date later this year. That news comes not from some whispering busybody but Sony Computer Entertainment of America president Jack Tretton.

He told Bloomberg that the Sony NGP may arrive in just one region this year rather than Asia, Europe and the US simultaneously. The issue is the result of disruption following the March 11 Japanese earthquake.

The Sony NGP is getting some love from Sony’s Music Unlimited, its streaming subscription music service. The feature is also headed to the current PlayStation Portable and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.

Eurogamer got the confirmation from Sony Network Entertainment VP Shawn Layden who said the Music Unlimited service will available for UK PSP owners “in a matter of weeks” with the Xperia Play and NGP getting it later this year. Good news. Now we just need a firm release date for the Sony NGP to work with…
