Apple iPhone 3GS hackers have already succeeded in getting the new, faster hardware to run retro games from the Sony PSOne and Nintendo DS.
Bouyed by recent sales of titles such as Grand Theft Auto IV and the PS3 exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4, SCE President, Kaz Hirai believes the console could sell even more than both the PSone and PS2.
Sony’s prepping an update to the PSP’s software, adding the ability to tweak button configurations when playing PSone games, and giving increased control of the PS3 when using Sony’s Remote Play feature. The new software will let gamers close their remote play connection, and choose whether or not to leave the PS3 running. That makes it useful for those leaving their console downloading content while they’re away. The update should be available shortly.
