The legal battle between notorious PS3 jailbreaker George “geohot” Hotz and Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has finally come to a close. As part of the settlement, Hotz consented to a permanent injunction and vowed to “never purchase another Sony product” — he encourages you to do the same. Apparently his message hasn’t affected PSP sales in Japan.

Notorious iOS, and most recently PS3, jailbreaker George ‘Geohotz’ Hotz is in route to South America. According to Hot’z legal counsel, George has hit the road, destined for a tropical destination. Details emerged this morning following accusations from Sony’s legal team that Hotz had “thwart jurisdictional discovery”.
The war between Sony and the PS3 hacking community continues. According to Crunchgear, notorious PS3 hacker graf_chokolo has been dealt the wrath of Sony’s legal team. Police raided his home this morning in tandem with Sony, seizing his PS3 console and accounts. As Sony moves to the offensive, graf_chokolo is being used as an example of what risks may come with a PS3 hacking.
That Sony PS3 jailbreak ban that was announced with much publicity this week? It’s already been hacked by the army of modders out there. A hack that is now doing the rounds reportedly gives players the power to unban themselves and, if they know a console’s ID, can ban someone else’s console. It’s all getting a bit heated out there. Don’t expect Sony to take this hack lying down.

Sony has said it will permanently block PS3 owners from the PlayStation Network if they’ve used a PS3 jailbreak on their console. Sony describes PlayStation Network as “a world of entertainment” in its notice and confirms that the PS3 jailbreak ban will have hacked consoles “terminated permanently”.
Is Arnold Schwarzenegger writing copy for Sony now? The blog post, actually by Jeff Rubenstein, Sony’s social-media manager, states that customers can duck the ban by ceasing to use and removing “all circumvention devices and deleting all unauthorised or pirated software from their PS3.” Sony hasn’t said when or how it’ll carry out the PS3 jailbreak ban.

The electronics empire has filed a restraining order against well-known iPhone hacker Geohot and other individuals for allegedly bypassing “effective technological protective measures” in PS3 firmware version 3.55.
