Heavy Iron Studios: the PlayStation Vita launch will be a car wreckWe’ve heard of throwing someone under the bus, but Lyle Hall and Matthew Seymour of Heavy Iron Studios have run the PlayStation Vita over with an 18 wheeler. Sony PlayStation Vita delayed until March 2012?No, we’re not joking. The latest pre-order updates from Best Buy and Amazon suggest the Sony PlayStation Vita will not launch in the US and UK until the 30th of March 2012. That’s nearly three months after the December launch in Japan. Following the initial shock of the PS Vita delay, today’s update feels like Sony is rubbing salt in our wounds.

Xbox 360 portable does not exist, buy a Windows PhoneWe’ve heard the Xbox 360 successor, likely the Xbox 720, will be announced at E3 next year. What won’t be announced is a portable Xbox 360 to rival the PS Vita. Unlike Sony, Microsoft has yet to crack the portable gaming market and because of this, remains set to deliver Xbox gaming on-the-go through its Windows Phone devices.

Portable gaming profits for next-gen devices are hard to come by. Sony is expected to sell the PS Vita for a loss during its first two years of availability; a similar position it faced with the PS3. Meanwhile Microsoft is enjoying the fruits of its labor with the Xbox 360, but like Sony it took a couple years to get out of the red and into the black.
