Nintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo Wii successor will ship in 2012. It revealed the Wii HD/Wii 2/Project Cafe will be revealed at E3 in June.

The revelation came in an official statement from the company as it released its 2010/11 earnings figures. The announcement is vital as Nintendo reported a 66% slump in its annual net profit, the second fall in two years…

Is the 3DS pushing DS sales down already? It certainly looks that way. Nintendo’s quarterly profits are out, for the months April to June this year, and it’s not great news for the company. A slip in DS sales has pushed profits down, and could be caused by anticipation around the launch of the 3DS.

Microsoft has posted record earnings for the quarter, with a massive 22 per cent year on year rise to $16.04 billion.  Yearly revenue was up seven per cent at $62.48 billion. Windows 7 was one of the biggest successes, as Microsoft sold 175 million licenses.

Electronic Entertainment Design And Research (EEDAR) is the Californian company the giant videogames publishers like Electronic Arts, Activision and Ubisoft turn to, to predict whether their next game will be a hit (or whether a particular feature to be implemented will be worth the investment). Now, the company’s President Geoffrey Zatkin has revealed that only four per cent (see update below!) of videogames they’ve analysed actually made money.
