Phew! Looks like we’ll all be able to keep hold of our kidney’s after all: the Motorola Xoom is not going to be as expensive as rumours were suggesting. Not only that – it’s cheaper than an iPad.
Phew! Looks like we’ll all be able to keep hold of our kidney’s after all: the Motorola Xoom is not going to be as expensive as rumours were suggesting. Not only that – it’s cheaper than an iPad.
The Motorola Xoom is landing in the US on Verizon Wireless in two days. Included in today’s press release were both price points which pair up nicely with our previous coverage — $799.99 no contract and $599.99 on-contract. We’ve seen pre-order pricing in the UK before, but now that the US has set the tone will we see UK retailers follow suit?
The Motorola Xoom’s pricing was revealed just a day ago. At the same time, Motorola mobility head honcho Sanjay Jha also justified the price tag for the Motorola Xoom, and his reasoning should result in a cheaper Wi-fi and 3G version of the Motorola Xoom for the UK. Read on for our reasons why.
The LG Optimus Pad could set you back as much as £840, according to the German press release. LG’s German press release for the LG Optimus Pad puts the price point at €999, which converts to £840.
The LG UK team had no information on the UK pricing for the LG Optimus Pad, and a spokesperson said she could not comment on whether the German price would be a straight conversion for the UK market.

In the last couple of days, in the wake of the launch of the Nintendo 3DS in Amsterdam on Wednesday, we’ve been asking you about how much you’re prepared to pay for the Nintendo 3DS, and whether you’re going to snap one up, given what you saw from the launch. To our surprise, Electricpig readers don’t seem overwhelmed by the Nintendo 3DS, with lots of you saying that you would not be shelling out for the Nintendo 3DS.
UPDATE: The Nintendo 3DS is up on Game.co.uk for pre-order in both shades at £229.99.
The Nintendo 3DS UK price hasn’t been officially revealed with Nintendo saying that retailers will set their price points based on their recommended retail price. However, we just overheard a Nintendo staffer (the Nintendo staff badge was a big clue) telling a contact that the Nintendo 3DS UK price will be around £229 and that there will be “special deals” done. Of course, his information could be duff but we reckon that’s a good shout as we’ve heard from a source within a major retailer that he’s been quoted that price too – although Play.com is now listing it for £219.99. Click the headline and let us know, would you pay £229 for the Nintendo 3DS?

Today’s the day for the Nintendo 3DS. We’ll be reporting from Amsterdam at the Nintendo conference where Nintendo (and Jonathan Ross) will be announcing the Nintendo 3DS to the European market. What we don’t know yet is how much it will cost, with some sites putting placeholder prices in between £200 and £300. But how much will you pay to get your hands on a Nintendo 3DS? Click and tell!
The price leaks for the BlackBerry PlayBook put it on a level with the Advent Vega, over £100 cheaper than an unlocked BlackBerry Torch, and way below an iPad. But are these prices too good to be true? Earlier this month, RIM co-Chief Executive Officer Jim Balsillie said the BlackBerry PlayBook would be under $500 ($310), and yesterday more specific prices leaked, placing the PlayBook at between $399 (£256) and $599 (£384). But are these prices too good to be true? Are you turning away from the Vega, and in the direction of the PlayBook as we speak? Click and tell…
