Toshiba is letting everyone else fight over who’s the smallest or thinnest, instead grabbing the slightly qualified world’s lightest full scale laptop crown for its own with the Portege R600.

The latest addition to Toshiba’s Portege laptop range has just popped up on the firm’s Canadian website. The R600 is a 12.1-inch, sub-1kg notebook with a claimed battery life of nine hours.
It runs on a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of memory (upgradeable to 5GB), and can be kitted out with either 128GB of solid state storage or a standard 160GB hard drive. There’s also a DVD burner built-in.
