The iPad makes use of iPhoto features like Faces and Places in its photo app, so when a customer emailed Steve Jobs to ask whether it will support Google’s Picasa photo app, his answer wasn’t really a surprise. The fact that Steve Jobs will occasionally answer customers iPad queries personally? Well, that is slightly odd.

Picasa 3.5, the latest version of Google’s free photo software, has just been slapped up online for download. That extra 0.5 on the end adds a great new feature, face recognition, just like iLife 09, but there’s a lots more besides.
