The Android continues its march to global domination (or ubiquity, at any rate) with the announcement of a digital photo frame that will run the mobile operating system.
This is creative product naming at its finest. LG’s just dished up details of its “Digital Photo TV”. It’s either the world’s largest digital photo frame, or the silliest name possible for a telly.
Of course, there’s a bit of logic in marketing its photo-displaying capabilities. Where most TVs tend to save on power by turning the screen off when you don’t want to watch it, you can now grab a screenshot from your favourite show and have it displayed on standby instead.
OLED technology may usually be associated with televisions – but it’ll soon be coming to your mantlepiece in the form of Kodak’s new digital photo frame.
Keep up! Photo frames were the boom product of last year. The latest picture frames from Kodak are actually multimedia playback devices with speakers for playing MP3s, high-def screens and a new touch sensitive border a little like the iPod touch.
