Microsoft Xbox 360 Arcade consoles in the UK now come with double the internal memory previously found in the hard drive-less consoles. The new consoles are shipping with 512MB of memory, as opposed to older Xbox 360 Arcade units shipping with 256MB. So, if you’re about to buy an Arcade console – check carefully to make sure you’re getting one of the new ones.

The Xbox 360 could be getting an update this month to fix sound problems caused by the New Xbox Experience (NXE) installation.
Microsoft’s New Xbox Experience (NXE) has brought a cleaner, easier to use interface to the Xbox console, XBLA, LIVE, and media players. Now we have all had a few weeks to get used to it, Microsoft will be rolling out some new ‘Channels’ for exclusive themed content and games.
Xbox LIVE has been a stunning, benchmark setting, generation defining success. Games for Windows LIVE has so far been, well, somewhat less so, and has been out manoeuvred repeatedly by rival services including Steam and Xfire. But Microsoft hasn’t given up on it yet, and it has big plans for the coming year. The first phase has been an overhaul of the current GfW LIVE front end to match the NXE redesign, and soon it will be adding exclusive DLC content to its arsenal from big titles like Fallout 3 and GTA IV.
