The four days following the announcement represented the greatest decline. It was one of the biggest titles announced during the Nintendo 3DS launch back at E3 2010 but it Assassin’s Creed: Lost Legacy has lived up to its title and been lost for good. In an interview with Joystiq, Darby McDevitt, the lead writer for the forthcoming Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, explains that the concept of the Assassin’s Creed 3DS game now forms the foundation for that title.

He says: “You may have heard of the game ‘Lost Legacy’ for the 3DS. It was announced but kind of morphed into this idea.” So while Ubisoft previously predicted that 3D games would make up 50% of releases by 2012, it doesn’t seem to be making the Nintendo 3DS a priority. Of course, though Assassin’s Creed: Lost Legacy has been canned, that doesn’t mean the company won’t release another handheld adventure in the future.
