The second of today’s live webcasts is Rupert Murdoch’s announcement of the iPad-only newspaper The Daily. Murdoch is set to launch a daily iPad only newspaper, but will it succeed? Branson is stepping into the ring with his iPad only magazine, Project, which launched yesterday. There’s already speculation about whether Murdoch’s The Daily will succeed, as the paper will be finished in the early evening for publication the next day, meaning that it’s 12 hours behind rolling news when it’s published. Last week we asked you who would win the iPad publishing wars, after news broke that Branson would also be producing an iPad-only publication to challenge The Daily, the iPad only newspaper Rupert Murdoch will be launching. 44 per cent of you said that Branson would win, and 40 per cent said that there was no winner here except Steve Jobs. There was little faith in Murdoch, who only snagged seven per cent of the vote.

Rupert Murdoch announced that he would be publishing an iPad only newspaper staffed by 100 journalists earlier in the week, and now Richard Branson has come out of the woodwork and squared up to Murdoch, announcing that he’s also after a piece of the iPad-only publication pie.
