No, we’re not joking. NASA has just revealed details of a satellite “the size of a bus” due to collide with the Earth’s surface sometime tomorrow. The worst bit? It could land “almost anywhere”. Time to don your tinfoil hat and head to the cellar.

Whoa nelly, we’ve got the goods this morning. In today’s daily dose of tech, better known as the US Update, we cover the final voyage of the space shuttle Discovery, present new evidence confirming Android apps running on BlackBerry OS, unveil the Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta release date and more.
The announcement from NASA that’s coming later today is not about life on Mars, (or Saturn, as the original rumour had it) but is apparently the announcement that NASA has discovered a completely new life form that’s built from arsenic. It has a completely alien DNA than us, and changes what we thought were the necessary building blocks of life.
A NASA press conference at 11am PST on Thursday will reveal some seriously cool details in the quest to find alien life. NASA says the event is about “astrobiology [and] a finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life”. That has got us skywatchers at Electricpig pretty excited. If you can stay up late enough you can see the whole thing broadcast on NASA TV. In the meantime let us know: do you think there’s something out there or are we just a galactic fluke? Lego and NASA are teaming up on a project that’ll see astronauts making models in zero gravity. The project is called Building And Exploring Our Future but we’re not fooled – it’s basically an excuse for highly trained space explorer to mess about with the iconic building blocks. We’re not yet sure what Lego kits NASA will be launching into space but we’re sure they’re open for suggestion. We’d go for the Lego Deathstar. What sets would you send?
