Tesco has announced a move to embrace digital movies by partnering with Blinkbox and offering to hand them out to customers when they pay for one of a select list of Blu-Rays or DVDs. It’s part of what the supermarket hopes will “help start a digital revolution,” and may pave the way for a big shift in movie buying. Read more

Remember Google Movies? The movie renting service was shown off back in May, but at long last has opened for business in the UK. Head over to market.android.com/market on the desktop to peruse offerings (which you can watch in the browser), or download the Google Videos app on your Android 2.2 or up phone and you can rent around 1,000 titles from £2.49, from oldies like to Bend It Like Beckham to new releases including Senna and The Green Lantern.

Channel 4 is after a piece of the UK movie streaming pie, and has announced Film4oD, an online streaming service for watching full length films. Film40D has a rental fee of between 99p and £3.99 per title, depending on whether you’re after premium titles or bargain box tat. Rentals last 48 hrs, and you can watch the film as many times as you want in that two day period.
