Last week when Google announced plans to purchase Motorola Mobility and its 17,000 patents, many expected backlash against Apple. Today an unlikely ally appeared when Microsoft opened a case in front of the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) which attempts to block sales of the Motorola Droid 2, Droid X, Cliq XT, Devour and Backflip smartphones. The Redmond legal team alleges that Motorola Mobility is infringing on seven of its patents.
