Good news for fans of Crysis 2-style carnage. Crytek has announced that it’s bringing Warface, its free-to-play online FPS, to Europe in 2012. The game which uses the same CryEngine 3 architecture as Crysis 2 was originally announced for release in Asia later last year but it’ll now march into the UK too.

Warface is set in the near-future and features military missions with both competitive battle and co-op modes. It’ll be exclusive to PC and Crytek is promising to pump out plenty of updates to keep players coming back. We’re intrigued to see what it can offer with all that graphical power to draw on. Could Warface give Call of Duty and Battlefield 3‘s online offerings a run for their money? Take a look at the teaser trailer after the break and let us know what you make of it…

Diablo III details emerge: real money, online only and no game modsBlizzard has revealed several major changes coming to the third installment of Diablo, Diablo III. The franchise which began way back in 1996 will skip the fake currency and instead allow the buying and selling of in-game items for cold hard cash. Blizzard has taken a big step in luring more gamers to World of Warcraft addiction. With one eye on the spread of free-to-play MMOs, it’s announced a new way in to the game called World of Warcraft Starter Edition. It’ll allow you to download the game and play until your character reaches level 20.

There are some other restrictions – gold is tops out at 10 and trade skills at 100 plus the Auction House, mailbox and player-to-player trading are blocked as well as public and voice chat. As a free player, you’ll also be barred from joining guilds. Hit level 20 and you’ll need to upgrade to a paid subscription. Blizzard is betting you’ll be hooked by then.

Since Bungie bounced away from Halo development, its been hard at work on other things including a major original project for Activision.

Now eagle-eyed trademark watchers have spotted an application from the developer referring to something called “Crimson”. The mystery title is tagged in the paperwork as a game for mobiles. How intriguing…

Now Bungie isn’t making Halo, it’s on to the next project and it’s finally announced what that is. Not details, of course, but the five words which should get a lot of gamers excited.

Trumpets please! Bungie is working on “a massively multiplayer action game”. That’s big news and something Blizzard with its World of Warcraft empire. What exactly is Bungie doing? We’ll find out at E3. In the meantime, let the speculation begin!

DC Universe Online shatters records, new features coming soonDC Universe Online is officially a run-away success for Sony Online Entertainment (SOE). The company confirmed that its new superhero MMO has become the fastest-selling title in the company’s 16 year history. SOE has also confirmed several fixes, tweaks and new features for DC Universe Online (DCUO) are in the works.
