Microsoft Kinect sales are unstoppable: 10 million units soldIt appears Sony aptly named the Playstation Move after considering the competition. Microsoft’s Kinect has outshined its competitor at the cash register, bringing home unprecedented hardware and game sales to the tune of 10 million units. That’s right, 10 million Microsoft Kinects and 10 million stand-alone Kinect games have been sold since launch.

One of the big complaints about Kinect has been a lack of more full-on games but Microsoft has promised that’s set to change. At the firm’s spring showcase, senior producer Kevin Unangst said a whole raft of new Kinect games are on the way: “There are many [hardcore games] coming. This is sort of scratching the surface of what’s happening but we’ve got Child of Eden here today, we’ve got Twisted Pixel’s Gunstringer…and certainly you’re going to see more.”

A Gears of War Kinect title is definitely in the works according to a report from Kotaku. The Gawker gaming site claims sources close to the Gears of War Kinect project say it’s definitely on the cards and is a rails shooter. The game was apparently planned for a reveal during the Spike TV Video Game Awards last year but was pulled at the last minute.

The report also notes that Epic Games grabbed a new trademark, Gears of War: Exile, recently which could point to the plans for a Gears of War Kinect title. Let us know: would you be interested in Gears of War Kinect if it was restricted to rails?
