Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson has decided to cut its losses and scrap the M2 memory card format. When the recently unveiled Sony Ericsson Satio, Aino and Yari were spotted to have MicroSD card storage instead of proprietary M2 format, warning bells were ringing. Now Sony Ericsson has confirmed to that it is moving away from the less compatible storage system.

This is great news for anyone with a Sony Ericsson mobile. The M2 memory cards used in the phones just got an update, boosting their maximum size from 4GB to 8GB.
It means Sony Ericsson phones can now rival an iPod nano in the capacity stakes, as well as storing more photos and video than ever before.
