Lovefilm’s movie streaming biz has been growing steadily since Amazon decided to buy it up. The Lovefilm Instant service is now available on PCs, PS3, iPads and smart TVs, but there’s one prime candidate that’s always been missing: The Xbox 360. The march of Netflix goes on. Having recently revealed its UK plans, followed by an exclusive streaming deal with Lionsgate here in Blighty, the movie rental service has just updated its Android Honeycomb app. And what’s more, it’s set to give its iPad add-on a rejig too. Lovefilm, if you weren’t fretting before about Netflix’s ever-growing reputation, now’s the time to start.

Netflix has ramped up its planning ahead of its UK launch next year, unveiling an exclusive streaming deal with Lionsgate UK. The hook-up means that classics like Reservoir Dogs and The Blair Witch Project, as well as Sly Stallone’s woeful actioner The Expendables, will all be available to stream exclusively when Netflix launches on these shores next year.

Microsoft has just announced a big ol’ bunch of TV channels and on-demand services coming to the Xbox 360 in the UK. Lots of players are coming to the console including YouTube, Lovefilm and a couple of the terrestrial broadcasters. And guess what? Even the BBC is confirmed as a partner.
The next in an ever increasing line of platforms and brands to get Lovefilm access is Samsung. Specifically, its line of Blu-ray players will be getting Lovefilm access via a downloadable widget app for the Samsung Internet@TV hub. All you’ll need to get access to Lovefilm on demand content is a Lovefilm subscription of £5.99 per month or more. The app is live, and users can download it from today.
