Acer Liquid Metal Froyo phone dated!

Exclusive: The Acer Liquid Metal Froyo Android smartphone we covered the leak of earlier this morning is the real deal, we’ve confirmed. An Acer UK spokesperson confirmed to us that the handset, which features a metal backplate, will run Android 2.2 Froyo, and will be on sale at the end of October. Acer declined to confirm the specifications otherwise, but we’d expect them to be as reported originally: a 3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen and 800MHz CPU. Needless to say, we’ll be hunting down a hands on with the Acer Liquid Metal just as soon as we can.

The Acer Liquid Metal isn’t a special edition Robert Patrick smartphone, unfortunately, but if the rumours are true, it’s exciting nonetheless. A report online pegs it as the next Android flagship handset from the laptop giant, and it’s rocking an aluminium shell, HTC Legend style.
