It’s not just Apple who had a taste of life being hacked this morning: the official Twitter feed for Fox News was also hacked, falsely reporting that Barack Obama had been assassinated. Well now those responsible have stepped forward, and it’s a group affiliated with Anonymous, them of the hack that brought down the Sony PlayStation Network a couple of months ago.

Bingo: three suspects arrested in connection with PlayStation Network attackThe long arm of the law knows no bounds. Spanish police are reporting the arrest of three suspects accused in last month’s PlayStation Network hack. Taking down the network for nearly a month and compromising more than 80 million user accounts will lead to quite a lengthy wrap sheet.

The three suspects, all part of the #Anonymous hacker group, were leaders in Barcelona, Alicante and Almeria. By rather unconventional means the Spanish police broke the news on its Twitter page, “Spanish Police dismantle the #Anonymous hacker group in Spain. They attacked #PlayStation Store”.

Sony looks set to face another hacker attack following the PlayStation Network security breach. CNET claims to have been in contact with hackers planning a third major attack on Sony systems this weekend. The group claim they will publicise all or some of the information they gain from any security breach and claim to already have access to some Sony servers.

Yesterday, Anonymous struck back at claims by Sony that it was behind the original PlayStation Network breach releasing a statement that stressed: “While we are a distributed and decentralised group, our ‘leadership’ does not condone credit card theft.”

After The Pirate Bay plugged the hole in its site found by hacker Ch Russo, it has posted a blog stating that the team are “very sad that it’s out there”. That’s right, The Pirate Bay are ‘sad’ that they missed a hole that leaked millions of users’ details.

According to early reports, the latest PlayStation Portable model may have finally fulfilled Sony’s dream of driving out piracy from the handheld. Hackers attempting to break through the new system’s tightened security are currently completely stumped; that means that running custom firmware, homebrew and, most importantly, copying games will only be possible on the older models.
