Expect to see commuters head-banging and wielding their mobiles like air guitars as Guitar Hero makes the jump from console to phone. Guitar Hero Mobile cashes in on the hugely successful franchise by turning your handset into your axe – sort of.
It turns out the mobile game is a bit of pale comparison to the real deal, with just three strings to your “guitar” – which of course actually just a handset. It’s quite a stretch to imagine yourself rocking Wembley stadium as you hammer out Suck My Kiss on your phone’s buttons, but Alice Cooper’s hits and more will be coming to a mobile near you soon.

Guitar maker par excellence Gibson has just expanded its range of robot guitars. Don’t worry: these aren’t going to become self-aware and attempt to eradicate their human former masters – they simply tune themselves automatically using clever sound processing and string-tightening motors. Les Paul and SG versions are available in the US, priced at about £2,000 and £1,800 respectively.
