The Google Hotpot local reviews feature which personalises your location results has hit the iPhone in a Google Places iPhone app. Google announced the app on its official blog. Greg Blevin, a software engineer for Google Hotpot, says: “Places with Hotpot not only helps you find places near where you are, it gives you the best places to go for you by personalising your search results.” Google Places with that probably-not-Corrie-inspired Google Hotpot element helps you find businesses and restaurants nearby and Hotpot is intended to show you reviews from real people of those locations. Take a look at Google Places on your iPhone now and let us know in the comments what you make of it. Are there too many location-aware apps yet?

The Google NFC stickers and the NFC-skills built in to the Google Nexus S could also tie in quite nicely to Google’s social network plans (the project we now know is NOT called Google Me). Hit the headline and let us know: what do you make of the Google Nexus S and NFC?

Google Hotpot, a new location-based recommendation engine, has just been unveiled. Google has been sticking its flag into location services for a while with Places, Images and Latitude. Google Hotpot takes Google Places ratings and reviews but draws on recommendations from your friends Google profiles. User ratings and reviews are tracked at the top of each Google Places page and likes and dislikes are remembered and pumped into the Google Hotpot recommendation engine. Google Hotpot is a little bit US-focused right now but it definitely shows potential. Take a look and let us know what you think by hitting the headline and then bouncing into the comments. Can it compete with Betty’s famous hotpot?
