Microsoft to unveil Gears of War Kinect and Windows Kinect SDK at GDC?In the world of Xbox 360 shooters there’s Gears of War and then there’s everything else. Some may argue that Halo is the superior shooter, but fans of Quake, Duke Nukem and Doom, know all too well that Gears is where the action’s at. At next week’s Game Developer Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, the Redmond camp is expected to unveil Gears of War Kinect and possibly a Windows 7 Kinect SDK.

Crysis 2 screenshot 1

Crysis 2 isn’t set to arrive until late-2010 (some people say as soon as October, others predict a December release date) but EA has finally punted out some official screenshots. Though we have to admit one of the new Crysis 2 screenshots does look rather similar to an illustration in the earlier batch of Crysis 2 images.

Sony’s Playstation 3 motion controller looks like it’s called the Sony PS3 Arc based on recent rumours. But what we do know for sure is that it will be properly revealed next month at the Game Developer’s Conference.

Sony has promised to “match” the development costs of PS3 downloadable games, distributed across its PlayStation Network, with “guaranteed royalties”. Meaning that small games companies will not make a loss if they sign up exclusively to the Sony PS3.

The successor to the Microsoft Xbox 360 could feature a new “cool input device” (controller), if hints from Rob Pardo of World Of Warcraft creators Blizzard are to be believed. Pardo, speaking at a lunch at the Game Developers Conference, San Francisco, confirmed Blizzard had held talks with Microsoft on possible directions for the replacement to the Xbox 360.
