After being in public beta for a while, Apple has released the full version of FaceTime for Mac in the Mac App Store. This is ahead of the MacBook Pro announcement that we’re expecting later today. The good news is that the FaceTime app for Mac will set you back just 59p. Bargain!

The FaceTime app for Mac lets you make and receive HD video calls at 720p (if you’ve got a compatible Mac), and incoming calls ping up even if FaceTime isn’t running, and you can use your existing address book.

Yes, iPad 2 rumours are really nothing new but a new report from Reuters claims that the second generation iPad will come packing the dual cameras we’ve long expected and will arrive in April 2011 following a January 2011 announcement. A FaceTime-packing iPad has been predicted for some time and Reuters sources claim it is being built with Wintek making the touchscreen. Analysts who spoke to Reuters predicted that we’ll see an April shipping date for the iPad 2. The idea of Facebook Skype video calls have been rumoured for ages and ramped up last month when Skype outed deep Facebook integration in its updated apps. Now a Facebook developer has spied some interesting code lurking deep in Facebook. Tai Ater spotted a Facebook code object called “VideoChat” which has properties referring to Skype and Skype IDs. A Skype Facebook tie up would be killer and big blow to Apple’s desire to make iPhone, iPod touch and iPad dominant through FaceTime. Video calls plus Facebook Messaging would be big with a capital B. Hit the headline and head for the comments to debate it…
