Palm Pre users are restricted to the US at the moment, where the Pre’s preference for CDMA networks allows it to work just fine. Those waiting for a release in GSM-land got a boost the other day when a real-live Palm Pre showed up in Vietnam, rocking a GSM SIM card.

The Palm Pre will be arriving in Europe slightly earlier than we reported. The first Palm Pre batch should go on sale by the end of September.
Kiss goodbye to hideous phone bills and that nagging feeling while texting on holiday: Vodafone’s abolishing roaming charges across Europe from June, meaning it’ll cost the same to call, text or send picture messages whether you’re on the continent, or at home on the couch.
Samsung is planning to launch its first mobile to run the Android operating system in June this year. The phone will be available exclusively in Europe, with two further handsets headed for the US market later in the year.
Vodafone and Telefónica have announced that they will join forces and link their European networks to give better coverage in Germany, Spain, Ireland and the UK.

The LG Arena was one of the more impressive phones we saw at the Mobile World Congress this year. The S-Class 3D GUI and swish multimedia functions piqued our interest, but the phone couldn’t be obtained in Europe for love nor money. Until now.
Sony has revealed a set of three new colours for the PSP-3000. Last month, we were excited to see the Carnival collection heading to Japan, but we knew deep down that they’d never actually make it over here. Happily, along with the rest of Europe, we’ll soon get to choose between Mystic Silver, Pearl White and Radiant Red flavours of the handheld console.
According to GfK Chart-Track data, the PlayStation 3 is still trailing the Xbox 360 by one million units in Europe. While the console was steadily closing the gap with arch-rival Xbox 360 at the start of the year, Microsoft’s decision to slash prices in September and Sony’s unwillingness (or inability) to follow suit, widened the gap. With £99 Xbox 360 Arcade deals floating around right now, it looks highly likely that Microsoft will own this Christmas. If you ignore Nintendo, that is.
