The Amazon Kindle may be selling like warmed-through baked goods, but there are plenty of other eReaders vying for your literary dollar – like the Samsung E65, which has just hit the market in the UK. It boasts a 6-inch 600 x 800 eInk screen, full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi and a digital stylus for making notes.

The new Sony Reader Touch is now on sale, and we’ve got one of our own to find out whether it’s got the goods to take on the ultra slim new Amazon Kindle. Sony Reader Touch versus new Amazon Kindle: Fight!

The new Sony Reader Touch PRS-650 is undoubtedly smaller, thinner and eminently more readable than last year’s model. But cool enough to put up against the new Amazon Kindle? We’re not so sure, but that’s what Sony decided to do at a showcase for journalists in London today. While it’s fair to say we can take or leave the Kindle’s keyboard, it’s still thinner, and at least compared to the RRP for the Sony Reader Touch PRS-650 at Waterstones (£199.99), half the price. What do you think?

The glass touchscreen layer on its 6-inch predecessor made reading in direct light a reflective nightmare, but while the new Sony Reader Touch PRS-650 keeps that (responsive) touch display, there’s no sign of any light bulbs over your shoulder on the page this time.
